The Welcome Center at the University of Potsdam offers international guest scholars the following services:

- assistance with filling in forms
- assistance with insurance matters
- support for finding accommodations
- assistance with registering your child/children for day-care and/or school
- information on free-time activities
- finding a mentor
- contacts to other guest scholars
- campus tours
The Welcome Center in Potsdam’s Townhall offers the following services:
- official registration with the Citizens’ Service Office, change of registration upon change of accommodations, notice of departure
- for citizens of the EU, application for a certificate of freedom of movement (Freizügigkeitsbescheinigung)
- application for residency permit (Aufenthaltstitel)
- issuance and amendment of your wage tax card (Lohnsteuerkarte)
- application for certificates of good conduct (Führungszeugnisse)
- acceptance of declarations of commitment (Verpflichtungserklärungen)
- issuance of certificates of proof of residence (Aufenthaltsbescheinigungen)
- information on day-care and schooling in Potsdam
- information on cultural events and sights to see and explore
